What does Sandalwood Essential Oil help with? Anxiety and stress: Inhaling sandalwood oil activates pathways in the brain that promote calm and reduce the physical signs of stress, like a racing heart or tense muscles. Studies measuring actual physiological markers — not just self-reported feelings — have found meaningful reductions in anxiety after sandalwood aromatherapy sessions. Sleep and insomnia: Sandalwood's calming effect on the nervous system makes it a popular natural sleep aid when diffused in the bedroom or applied to pulse points before bed. Its sedative-leaning action helps quiet a busy mind, making it easier to fall and stay asleep without the grogginess associated with pharmaceutical options. Dry, irritated, or inflamed skin: Alpha-santalol has documented anti-inflammatory properties that help calm redness and irritation when applied topically in a carrier oil or cream. It also supports the skin's moisture barrier, making it especially useful for dry or sensitive skin types that react easily to environmental stressors. Psoriasis and eczema: Emerging research shows that santalol compounds can interact with a specific skin receptor that slows down the rapid, excessive skin cell growth that drives psoriasis. Early clinical results are promising, and many people with both psoriasis and eczema report visible improvements in redness and flaking with regular topical use. Mental focus and clarity: Unlike lavender, which is purely sedating, sandalwood has a dual quality — it calms without dulling the mind, making it useful during meditation, study, or any task requiring quiet, sustained attention. Users frequently report a grounded, clear-headed sense of alertness during aromatherapy sessions. Low mood and mild depression: The scent of sandalwood has been shown to mildly elevate mood and reduce feelings of emotional heaviness, likely through its influence on the limbic system and possible effects on serotonin signaling. It works best as a supportive tool alongside other approaches rather than as a standalone treatment for clinical depression. Acne-prone skin: Sandalwood oil has demonstrated antibacterial activity against common acne-causing bacteria (including Cutibacterium acnes), and its anti-inflammatory action can help reduce the redness and swelling of active breakouts. It is gentle enough for most skin types when properly diluted, making it a useful addition to natural acne routines. Wound healing and minor skin infections: Traditional use for minor cuts, burns, and skin infections is supported by laboratory evidence showing sandalwood's antimicrobial and wound-healing properties. Applied diluted to clean skin, it may help prevent infection and support faster, cleaner healing of minor wounds. High blood pressure (mild): Inhalation of sandalwood oil has been linked to measurable reductions in both systolic blood pressure and heart rate in several small studies, consistent with its overall calming effect on the autonomic nervous system. This makes it a reasonable complementary tool for stress-related blood pressure elevation, though it should not replace medical treatment.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
