Raspberry seed oil is a cold-pressed, unrefined oil derived from the byproduct seeds of red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) processing. It has an unusually balanced fatty acid profile — roughly equal parts omega-3 and omega-6 — making it exceptional among plant oils for maintaining the skin's lipid barrier. The oil also carries high levels of vitamin E and ellagic acid, giving it notable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

The high concentration of linoleic acid helps repair and reinforce the skin's outer barrier, reducing water loss and calming reactive or inflamed skin. Omega-3 fatty acids and phytosterols further dampen skin inflammation and support cell turnover. Ellagic acid and tocopherols neutralize free radicals triggered by UV exposure and environmental pollution, helping to protect skin cells from oxidative damage.

Most commonly used as a pure cold-pressed oil applied directly to the face or body, or blended into serums and moisturizers. It has a relatively light texture and a faint, pleasant nutty scent. It can also be combined with mineral or chemical sunscreens; it is not a standalone replacement for SPF-rated sunscreen.
