Helps

What does Centella asiatica help with? Memory and focus: Gotu Kola has a centuries-long reputation as a brain tonic, and modern research backs it up. Its active compounds appear to protect neurons, support healthy blood flow to the brain, and boost acetylcholine — a key chemical for learning and recall. Regular use over 4–8 weeks has been associated with measurable improvements in memory, attention, and mental processing speed. Anxiety and stress: Several small clinical trials have found that Gotu Kola reduces anxiety and startle responses without causing sedation. It appears to calm overactive stress signaling in the brain, making it a gentle option for everyday anxiety, nervousness, or mild situational stress. Wound healing and scars: Asiaticoside and madecassoside actively stimulate collagen synthesis and skin cell regeneration, making Gotu Kola one of the better-studied natural wound healers. Both topical and oral forms have been shown in clinical studies to speed up wound closure and reduce scar formation — it is even used as a pharmaceutical-grade ingredient in professional wound care products. Stretch marks: Centella asiatica is one of the few natural ingredients with clinical trial evidence for stretch mark prevention and reduction. Its collagen-boosting triterpenoids help strengthen the skin's connective tissue layer, and studies on pregnant women have shown it reduces new stretch mark formation when applied consistently. Skin firmness and aging: By stimulating fibroblasts — the skin cells responsible for making collagen and elastin — Gotu Kola helps firm and thicken skin that has thinned with age. It is widely used in dermatology-grade skincare for this reason, and trials have documented visible improvements in skin elasticity with regular topical use. Chronic venous insufficiency and leg swelling: This is one of the most clinically supported uses of Centella asiatica. Multiple controlled trials in Europe, where it has been used as a registered medicine, show that standardized Gotu Kola extracts significantly reduce leg heaviness, swelling, pain, and nighttime cramping associated with poor vein function. Sleep quality: Its calming effect on the nervous system can ease the mental restlessness that delays sleep. Some users report better sleep onset and reduced nighttime waking, likely related to its anxiety-lowering and mild adaptogenic properties rather than direct sedation. Peripheral neuropathy: Early clinical evidence suggests Gotu Kola may support nerve fiber regeneration and reduce the tingling, numbness, and pain of peripheral neuropathy — particularly in diabetic patients. This may be related to both its neuroprotective compounds and its ability to improve microcirculation to nerve tissue. Psoriasis and eczema (topical): Topical Centella asiatica preparations have shown promise for reducing redness, itching, and scaling in inflammatory skin conditions. Its anti-inflammatory triterpenes help calm skin barrier dysfunction, and it is increasingly found in dermatologist-recommended barrier repair formulas.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
