What does Hemp Seed Oil help with? Dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis: Hemp seed oil is exceptionally good at restoring the skin's protective barrier thanks to its high content of linoleic acid and GLA. People with eczema and psoriasis often have a deficiency in these specific fatty acids, and supplementing with hemp seed oil — both internally and topically — has been shown to meaningfully reduce dryness, itching, and redness. Heart health and high cholesterol: The balanced omega-3 to omega-6 ratio in hemp seed oil helps reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides while supporting HDL (good) cholesterol. Plant sterols naturally present in the oil also block some dietary cholesterol absorption, adding an extra layer of cardiovascular benefit. Inflammation and joint pain: Both ALA and GLA in hemp seed oil help dial down the body's inflammatory response over time. This makes it a useful long-term addition for anyone dealing with chronic inflammation, stiff joints, or conditions like rheumatoid arthritis — though it works best as a daily habit rather than a quick fix. PMS and hormonal imbalance: GLA has a well-documented ability to ease PMS symptoms including breast tenderness, mood swings, and cramping. It appears to work by helping regulate prostaglandin balance — essentially calming some of the hormonal signals that make PMS uncomfortable. Dry or damaged hair and scalp: When applied topically or taken internally, hemp seed oil helps moisturize the scalp, reduce flakiness, and strengthen hair strands. Its fatty acids penetrate the hair shaft and support the scalp's natural oil balance, making it popular for dry, brittle, or chemically treated hair. Immune system support: The fatty acids in hemp seed oil support the structure and function of immune cells, and the antioxidant vitamin E helps protect immune cells from oxidative stress. Over time, a well-balanced fatty acid intake from foods like hemp seed oil is associated with a more resilient immune response. Anxiety and stress (mild support): While hemp seed oil is not a direct anxiety treatment, its omega-3 content — particularly ALA — contributes to healthy brain function and mood regulation. A diet adequate in omega-3 fats is consistently linked with lower rates of anxiety and depression across large population studies. Digestive health: Hemp seed oil has a mild lubricating effect on the digestive tract and its anti-inflammatory fats can help soothe an irritated gut lining. Some people with constipation or mild IBS find it helpful as a daily dietary addition. Acne-prone skin: Despite being an oil, hemp seed oil is non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and its linoleic acid content actually helps regulate sebum production. People with acne-prone skin often have low linoleic acid in their skin oils, and supplementing — topically or internally — can help rebalance and reduce breakouts.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
