This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Pet therapy — formally called animal-assisted therapy or animal-assisted intervention — involves intentional, structured interactions with trained animals to improve a person's mental, emotional, or physical wellbeing. It is used in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, veterans' programs, and mental health clinics worldwide. Unlike simply owning a pet, formal pet therapy involves trained handler-animal teams working toward specific health goals alongside other care.
Interacting with animals triggers a measurable biological response in humans — petting a dog or cat raises levels of oxytocin (the bonding hormone), while simultaneously lowering cortisol (the stress hormone) and reducing blood pressure and heart rate. Animals also provide non-judgmental presence, which lowers social anxiety and creates a sense of safety and calm that can be hard to achieve through talking therapies alone. The physical act of touch — stroking, holding, or grooming an animal — activates the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting the body out of the stress response.
Canine-assisted therapy is the most researched and widely available form. Equine-assisted therapy (with horses) is particularly studied for PTSD and trauma. Cat therapy is common in care home settings. Formal AAT sessions are led by trained therapists using certified therapy animals. Casual pet ownership also carries documented health benefits, though the therapeutic effects are generally stronger in structured programs with clear goals.
Humans and animals have shared healing bonds for millennia — ancient Greeks recognized that horses could calm the distressed, and Florence Nightingale documented that small animals reduced anxiety in hospital patients in the 1800s. Modern animal-assisted therapy was formalized by child psychologist Boris Levinson in the 1960s, who noticed his dog spontaneously helped a withdrawn child open up during sessions. Since then, it has grown into a recognized therapeutic modality with a substantial body of clinical research.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
