This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Body Scan Meditation is a core mindfulness practice that guides your awareness sequentially through different regions of the body — from the toes to the top of the head — inviting you to notice sensations like tension, warmth, tingling, or numbness without trying to change them. It was popularized in the West by Jon Kabat-Zinn as a central component of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), though its roots trace back to Buddhist Vipassana and traditional yogic body-awareness practices. Sessions typically run 20–45 minutes, though shorter versions of 10–15 minutes are widely used and effective.
The practice works by activating the parasympathetic nervous system — your body's rest-and-digest mode — which lowers heart rate, reduces cortisol, and quiets the stress response. By deliberately directing attention inward, it trains a skill called interoception: the ability to notice and interpret what's happening inside your body. Over time this reduces the brain's tendency to amplify pain signals, improves emotional regulation, and helps break the cycle of anxious or ruminative thinking.
Body Scan is most accessible through a guided audio recording or app, making it easy to practice at home. Formal MBSR programs deliver it as a structured 8-week curriculum. Yoga Nidra is a closely related yogic practice that follows a similar body-traversal structure and is often used interchangeably by practitioners.
Body Scan as a clinical tool was codified by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979 as part of MBSR, originally designed for patients with chronic pain and stress-related conditions. Its conceptual ancestors include the Buddhist Satipatthana Sutta's contemplation of the body and traditional yogic relaxation techniques that predate written records.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
