This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

CBT-based Mindfulness combines two powerful approaches: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 as an 8-week structured program using meditation and body awareness, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which layers in cognitive behavioral techniques to specifically interrupt the thought patterns that drive depression and anxiety. Both programs teach people to notice thoughts and feelings without automatically reacting to them — creating a pause between trigger and response. MBCT was designed specifically for people with recurrent depression, while MBSR has broader applications across stress, pain, and general wellbeing.
Practicing mindfulness regularly reshapes how the brain handles stress and difficult emotions — research shows it actually changes the size and activity of brain regions involved in fear, self-awareness, and emotional regulation. By learning to observe thoughts as passing mental events rather than facts, you weaken the grip of negative thinking loops that fuel anxiety and low mood. Over time, the stress response becomes less hair-trigger, emotional recovery after setbacks becomes faster, and a sense of steadiness and self-compassion tends to grow.
The gold-standard format is an 8-week group program (2–2.5 hours per week plus a full-day retreat), with 30–45 minutes of daily home practice. MBCT follows a similar structure but with more explicit cognitive exercises. Digital apps like Headspace, Calm, and Insight Timer offer accessible entry points, though research suggests structured programs produce stronger, more lasting results than self-guided apps alone. Therapists certified in MBSR or MBCT can also deliver these programs individually.
MBSR grew out of Jon Kabat-Zinn's work at UMass Medical Center, where he adapted Buddhist Vipassana meditation for patients with chronic pain and stress who weren't responding to conventional treatment. MBCT was later developed in the 1990s by Zindel Segal, Mark Williams, and John Teasdale specifically to prevent depression relapse — and became the first mindfulness-based intervention recommended by the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a clinical treatment.
