Face turns bright red talking to people
You open your mouth to speak, and your face goes hot. Your cheeks, ears, and neck turn red. You can feel it spread, and you are sure everyone can see it.
Blushing is a change in blood flow. When you feel watched or judged, your body shifts gear fast. Small blood vessels in your face open wide, so the skin flushes red.
For many people this is tied to social fear. You may dread the blush more than the talk itself. That dread can pull your focus inward and make the flush feel worse.
When to see someone
See a doctor if your face flushes when you are calm or alone. Get checked soon for flushing with a racing heart, loose stools, or wheezing. Also see someone if the redness stays put, with bumps or tiny veins, or if fear of blushing makes you skip work, school, or friends.
Below are folk and home remedies people have used for social anxiety. Each has a grade that shows how much research stands behind it, not a promise of results. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before you try any, above all if you take other medicine.
