This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Shirisha (Albizia lebbeck) is a large deciduous tree native to South and Southeast Asia, widely revered in Ayurvedic medicine as one of the most important anti-allergic herbs. In classical Ayurvedic texts including the Charaka Samhita, it is listed under 'Shirovirechana' drugs and is prominently used in conditions involving excess Kapha and Pitta dosha. The bark is the most commonly used part, though seeds, leaves, and flowers all have documented therapeutic applications.
Shirisha's anti-allergic action is thought to come from its ability to stabilize mast cells — the immune cells that release histamine during allergic reactions — thereby reducing symptoms like itching, sneezing, and inflammation. Its flavonoids and saponins also work as natural anti-inflammatory compounds that help calm the immune system's overreaction to allergens. Traditional Ayurvedic understanding describes it as 'vishaghna' (detoxifying) and 'kaphahara' (mucus-reducing), which maps well onto its modern anti-allergic and bronchodilatory effects.
Bark powder (churna) and water decoctions are the traditional Ayurvedic preparations and remain widely used. Modern formulations include standardized capsules and tablets. Seed extracts have been studied specifically for anti-allergic activity. Shirisha is also a key ingredient in classic Ayurvedic anti-allergic formulas like Shirishavaleha.
Shirisha has been documented in Ayurvedic literature for over 2,000 years. The Charaka Samhita classifies it among the 'Aragvadhadi' group of herbs used for skin diseases and toxic conditions. It was also historically used in Unani medicine across the Indian subcontinent. Its common English name 'woman's tongue tree' refers to the rattling sound of its seed pods — a well-recognized feature of this widespread South Asian tree.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
