This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Longan berry (Long Yan Rou) is the dried aril of Dimocarpus longan, a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia and southern China. Its name means 'dragon eye' in Chinese, a nod to its round, translucent appearance. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is classified as a heart and spleen tonic — used specifically to rebuild what TCM calls 'blood and qi deficiency,' a pattern that shows up as worry, sleeplessness, forgetfulness, and general depletion.
Longan's calming and restorative effects appear to come from several directions at once. Its adenosine content has a natural sedative-like action that may help quiet an overactive nervous system. Its rich polysaccharides support immune regulation and are being studied for their antioxidant effects. The polyphenols — including gallic acid and ellagic acid — reduce oxidative stress in the brain, which may explain why longan has long been used to sharpen memory and lift fatigue.
Dried longan fruit (the most traditional form) is eaten directly or simmered into teas and congees. Powdered extracts and capsules offer a standardized, convenient option. Liquid extracts and syrups are common in Chinese herbal patent formulas. For acute calming or sleep support, a warm decoction (tea) taken in the evening is the most traditional and widely used approach.
Longan has been documented in Chinese medical texts since the Han Dynasty (around 200 BCE) and appears prominently in the Shennong Bencao Jing, one of the foundational texts of Chinese herbalism. It was historically regarded as a royal tonic — consumed by emperors and nobles for mental sharpness and longevity. It remains one of the most commonly used herbs in modern TCM practice for heart-blood deficiency patterns involving anxiety, insomnia, and palpitations.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
