This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

A full-spectrum mushroom complex combines multiple medicinal fungi — most commonly Reishi, Lion's Mane, Chaga, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, and Shiitake — each bringing unique active compounds that work together. The 'full-spectrum' label typically means the product includes both the mycelium and fruiting body, aiming to capture the broadest range of beneficial compounds. These mushrooms have been used in Traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine for thousands of years, and modern research is now confirming many of their traditional applications.
The primary drivers of benefit are beta-glucans — long-chain sugars that interact with immune cell receptors (like Dectin-1) to prime and modulate the immune system without overstimulating it. Lion's Mane contains unique compounds that encourage the brain's own growth and repair signaling. Cordyceps supports cellular energy production at a mitochondrial level, while Reishi's triterpenes help regulate the body's stress response and promote calmer sleep. Together, these mushrooms work on immune defense, brain health, and energy from different angles at once.
Capsules and powders are the most common and allow for consistent dosing. Hot-water extracted powders are important for activating beta-glucans, which require heat to become bioavailable. Dual extraction (hot water + alcohol) also captures fat-soluble triterpenes like those in Reishi. Tinctures work well for Reishi and Chaga but may not fully extract beta-glucans. Coffee blends and functional drinks are popular but often contain lower doses per serving. When choosing a product, look for fruiting-body-based or dual-extraction formulas and third-party beta-glucan content testing.
Medicinal mushrooms have been central to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 2,000 years. Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) was called the 'Mushroom of Immortality' and reserved for royalty. Cordyceps was used in Tibetan and Chinese medicine to restore vitality after illness. In Japan, Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor) became the basis of PSK, an approved oncology adjunct. Lion's Mane has a long history in Japanese and Chinese cuisine and medicine for cognitive and digestive health. The modern concept of combining them into a single complex emerged primarily in the functional food and supplement industry in the early 2000s.
