This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

A full-spectrum digestive enzyme complex is a supplement that bundles together the key enzymes your digestive system uses to break down food — covering carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dairy sugars, and plant fibers all in one formula. These enzymes are sourced from animal pancreas (pancreatin), fermented fungi (Aspergillus-based plant enzymes), or fruits like pineapple and papaya. The goal is to fill the gap when your own digestive enzyme production falls short — whether from age, stress, digestive disease, or simply eating a difficult-to-digest meal.
When you eat, your body releases enzymes from the salivary glands, stomach, and pancreas to break food into smaller molecules your gut can absorb. A digestive enzyme complex essentially lends a hand at this process — the amylase tackles starches, lipase breaks down fats, protease handles proteins, and lactase deals with dairy sugar. By getting more thorough breakdown of food in your gut, there's less undigested material sitting around to ferment, which means less bloating, gas, and discomfort.
Capsules and tablets are the most common and practical forms — taken just before or at the start of a meal. Powders can be mixed into food or shakes, which is useful for people who have trouble swallowing pills. Chewable tablets work well for children or adults who prefer them. Liquid drops are less common but available. For people with serious enzyme deficiency (like pancreatic insufficiency), prescription-strength pancreatic enzyme replacements (PERT) are a different, stronger category from OTC supplements.
Digestive enzymes as a therapeutic concept date back to the late 1800s when researchers first isolated and described pancreatic digestive secretions. Papain from papaya has been used in traditional medicine across Central America and parts of Africa for centuries to aid digestion. Bromelain from pineapple has similar roots in South American folk medicine. Modern multi-enzyme supplement formulas became popular from the mid-20th century onward, and today they are among the top-selling digestive health supplements globally.
