This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Betaine HCl is a compound that releases hydrochloric acid in the stomach, helping to restore the acidic environment needed for healthy digestion. It is often paired with pepsin, a protein-digesting enzyme that only works properly in an acidic environment. Unlike antacids, which reduce stomach acid, Betaine HCl works by supplementing it — addressing the root issue for many people who struggle with low acid production.
When you swallow a Betaine HCl capsule, it dissolves and temporarily lowers the pH of your stomach, mimicking the effect of your own stomach acid. This acidic environment activates digestive enzymes, helps break down protein into absorbable amino acids, and signals the rest of the digestive tract to do its job. Adequate stomach acid also acts as a gatekeeper, killing off harmful bacteria that can otherwise colonize the gut and cause bloating, gas, and discomfort.
Betaine HCl is available in capsule and tablet form, typically in doses ranging from 325 mg to 750 mg per capsule. Products frequently include pepsin (ranging from 10 mg to 150 mg) to support protein digestion alongside the acid. Capsule forms are generally preferred because they disintegrate more predictably in the stomach.
The use of supplemental hydrochloric acid for digestive complaints dates to the early 20th century, when physicians routinely prescribed dilute HCl or acidified betaine to patients with symptoms of hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid). Interest declined with the rise of antacid medications but has resurged strongly in functional and integrative medicine as clinicians recognized that many patients with chronic digestive complaints actually have insufficient rather than excess stomach acid.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
