Helps

What does Artichoke extract help with? High cholesterol (LDL): Artichoke extract appears to modestly but meaningfully lower LDL ('bad') cholesterol, likely by slowing the liver's production of cholesterol and improving how fats are cleared from the blood. Several clinical trials have shown reductions in the range of 10–20% over 8–12 weeks of daily use, making it a reasonable natural complement to diet changes. Bloating and indigestion: By encouraging the liver to release more bile into the digestive tract, artichoke extract helps the gut break down fats more efficiently, which reduces the bloating, heaviness, and discomfort that often follow meals. Many people notice a real improvement in these symptoms within one to two weeks. Liver health and detox support: Artichoke's antioxidant compounds help protect liver cells from oxidative stress, and its bile-stimulating action supports the liver's natural process of clearing waste and processing fats. It is one of the more evidence-backed herbal options for general liver support and has been studied in people with mild liver enzyme elevations. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS): Clinical research specifically in people with IBS-type symptoms has found that artichoke leaf extract can significantly reduce abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular bowel habits. Participants in trials have reported meaningful improvements in overall gut comfort and quality of life after 6–8 weeks of use. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD): Early clinical evidence suggests artichoke extract can help lower liver enzymes (ALT and AST) that are elevated in fatty liver disease, and may help reduce liver fat accumulation over time. Its antioxidant and bile-promoting effects are thought to be the primary drivers of this benefit. High triglycerides: Several trials that measured cholesterol also found reductions in blood triglycerides with artichoke extract use, possibly through improved fat metabolism in the liver. The effect appears most pronounced when baseline triglycerides are elevated. Blood sugar management: Chlorogenic acid and other compounds in artichoke extract may help slow the absorption of glucose after meals, contributing to more stable blood sugar levels. This effect is modest and artichoke is best used as a supportive measure alongside a balanced diet, not as a standalone blood sugar treatment. Nausea and sluggish digestion: Traditional use and some clinical data support artichoke extract for relieving nausea, a sense of fullness, and general sluggishness after eating — symptoms often grouped under 'functional dyspepsia.' Better bile flow and digestive enzyme stimulation are the likely reasons for the improvement.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
