Queasy and off food every morning
You wake up and your stomach feels off. The thought of breakfast puts you off food. Even toast or coffee can make the queasy feeling worse.
Morning sickness like this often points to the lining of your stomach. Doctors call a sore or swollen lining gastritis. Your stomach sits empty all night, so acid can feel more obvious at dawn.
Several things feed into it. Alcohol, smoking, stress, and pain pills like ibuprofen are common triggers.
A germ called H. pylori can also irritate the lining.
When to see someone
See a doctor if you vomit blood, or something that looks like coffee grounds. Black, tar-like stools, bad chest or belly pain, or weight loss you did not plan all need a check. Get help the same day if you cannot keep fluids down, or if you feel faint.
Below is a list of home and folk remedies that people have used for gastritis. Each one carries a grade for how much research stands behind it. A grade is not a promise of any result, so talk to your doctor before you try something new.
