This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Vitamin D, K2, and Magnesium are three nutrients that most people in the modern world are deficient in — and they happen to depend on each other to work properly. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium, but without K2 to direct that calcium into bones and away from arteries, high D intake can backfire. Magnesium is required to convert Vitamin D into its active form in the body, meaning a magnesium deficiency makes Vitamin D supplementation far less effective. Together, these three nutrients form a tightly interconnected system for calcium metabolism, immune regulation, energy production, and cardiovascular protection.
Vitamin D3 is converted in the liver and kidneys into its active hormone form (calcitriol), a process that requires magnesium at multiple steps. Calcitriol then activates proteins like osteocalcin and Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) — but these proteins need Vitamin K2 to become functional. K2 carboxylates osteocalcin so it can pull calcium into bone, and carboxylates MGP so it can prevent calcium from hardening in arteries and soft tissue. Magnesium also works independently as a cofactor in over 300 enzyme reactions, supports muscle and nerve function, and contributes to sleep quality. The trio essentially completes each other's jobs.
The trio is available as a single combined capsule or softgel (most convenient), or as three separate supplements taken together. D3/K2 drops combined in an oil base are popular because both are fat-soluble and absorb well this way. Magnesium is best taken separately in the evening for sleep support. Powder blends exist but are less common. Look for D3 (not D2), MK-7 K2 (not MK-4 in low-dose formulas), and a chelated magnesium form for best absorption.
While Vitamins D and K were identified separately in the early 20th century, their functional interdependence was not well understood until research in the 1990s and 2000s revealed how K2-dependent proteins regulate calcium. The concept of combining all three as a synergistic stack emerged from clinical nutrition research in the 2000s–2010s, particularly work on vascular calcification, osteoporosis, and widespread magnesium insufficiency in Western populations.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
