The app remembers what you have started, including Turmeric, reminds you when to take it, and records whether it helped — so the next decision is based on your own notes rather than memory.
Turmeric is the ground root of Curcuma longa, a plant in the ginger family that has been grown and used across South and Southeast Asia for over 4,000 years. It gives curry its golden color and has been a cornerstone of Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine as a remedy for pain, digestion, and skin conditions. Today it is one of the most researched natural compounds in the world, with thousands of published studies examining its effects on inflammation, immunity, and chronic disease.
Turmeric's primary active compound, curcumin, works by calming overactive inflammatory pathways in the body — particularly one called NF-kB, which acts like an 'inflammation switch.' It also behaves as a powerful antioxidant, neutralizing harmful free radicals that damage cells. Because curcumin is poorly absorbed on its own, pairing it with black pepper (which contains piperine) dramatically boosts how much your body actually uses — by up to 2,000% in some research.
Standardized curcumin extracts (95% curcuminoids) are the most researched form. Look for products that include piperine (BioPerine) or use specialized delivery systems like phospholipid complexes (Meriva) or nanoparticle formulations (Theracurmin) — these solve the absorption problem. Whole turmeric powder in food is great for general wellness but delivers much lower active doses.
Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for at least 4,000 years to treat wounds, digestive problems, liver conditions, and joint pain. In ancient China it was used for blood stagnation and pain. It has been a sacred plant in Hindu ceremonies and a daily kitchen staple across South Asia. Western scientific interest accelerated in the 1990s and has produced thousands of studies, making turmeric one of the most studied botanical medicines in modern history.
Some reactions to Turmeric need urgent care. Call your local emergency number or go to an emergency department straight away — do not wait to see whether it passes.
Call your doctor the same day if you bruise easily, get nosebleeds, or see blood in your stool or urine. Bleeding gums and cuts that keep oozing count too. Stop the supplement while you wait to be seen.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
