This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris and related wild Malus species) is the ancestral wild relative of the cultivated apple, producing small, tart fruits rich in polyphenols, pectin, malic acid, and tannins. It has been used across European folk medicine for centuries as a digestive aid, astringent, and mild liver tonic. In the 20th century, Dr. Edward Bach included it in his flower remedy system as the 'cleansing remedy,' intended for people who feel a sense of inner uncleanliness or self-disgust.
The fruit and bark contain high concentrations of polyphenols — particularly quercetin, chlorogenic acid, and phloridzin — that act as antioxidants, support healthy blood sugar regulation, and help protect liver cells. Pectin in the fruit acts as a soluble fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria, slows digestion, and can bind to toxins in the gut. The tannins give crab apple its notable astringent quality, which helps calm irritated mucous membranes in the digestive tract. The Bach flower essence works through a different, non-pharmacological framework and is understood by its practitioners as addressing emotional rather than physical patterns.
The most practical everyday form is eating fresh crab apples or using crab apple juice. Bark decoctions and tinctures provide more concentrated polyphenol and tannin content for medicinal use. Herbal tea from dried fruit or bark is mild and easy to prepare. Bach flower essence drops are highly diluted and used under the tongue; their action is understood within the Bach system as energetic rather than biochemical. Powdered extracts standardized to polyphenol content offer the most consistent dosing for supplement use.
Wild crab apples have been gathered and eaten across Europe and western Asia since prehistoric times, with evidence of use at Neolithic sites. In traditional European herbal medicine, the bark was used as a febrifuge (fever reducer) and the fruit as a digestive astringent. In the 1930s, British physician Edward Bach formalized Crab Apple as one of his 38 flower remedies, designating it the primary remedy for cleansing — both physical and emotional — and it remains one of the most widely used Bach remedies globally.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
