What is Sufoof Sailan? Sufoof Sailan is a time-honored Unani compound powder formulation whose name literally means 'powder for discharge.' It appears in classical Unani pharmacopeias and is still officially listed in the National Formulary of Unani Medicine (India). The blend typically combines astringent, antimicrobial, and uterine-toning herbs that work together to address the root causes of excessive or pathological vaginal discharge. How does Sufoof Sailan work? The formula works primarily through its rich astringent and antimicrobial plant compounds — especially tannins from oak gall and pomegranate peel — which help tighten pelvic tissue, reduce inflammation, and create an environment less hospitable to the microbes often involved in leucorrhoea. Lodh bark and Symplocos racemosa are traditionally used to tone and strengthen uterine muscle, while Mastagi Rumi (mastic) provides anti-inflammatory and digestive support that Unani medicine considers essential for treating the root cause (Balgham/phlegmatic imbalance) believed to drive excess discharge. What forms does Sufoof Sailan come in? Traditionally prepared and administered as a fine powder (sufoof) mixed with water, milk, or honey. Modern Unani manufacturers (such as Hamdard Laboratories and Rex Remedies) produce it in standardized powder sachets or capsules for convenience. Where it comes from: Sufoof Sailan is described in classical Unani texts including the Qarabadin tradition (Unani pharmacopeias) and has been used across the South Asian Unani tradition — particularly in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh — for several centuries. It reflects the Unani understanding of leucorrhoea as an excess of cold-moist humor (Balgham) requiring astringent, drying, and warming correctives.

Helps

What does Sufoof Sailan help with? Leucorrhoea (abnormal vaginal discharge): This is the primary reason Sufoof Sailan was developed. The astringent herbs in the formula — especially oak gall and pomegranate peel — help reduce the volume and abnormal character of vaginal discharge by tightening mucous membranes and discouraging the microbial imbalances that often drive it. Users typically notice a measurable reduction in discharge within 3–6 weeks . Uterine weakness and prolapse tendency: Lodh bark and Symplocos racemosa have been used for generations as uterine tonics. They are thought to help restore tone and firmness to uterine tissue, making this formula useful for women experiencing a sense of pelvic heaviness or early-stage uterine weakness. Irregular or painful periods: Several herbs in the formula have mild emmenagogue (cycle-regulating) properties in Unani medicine. Regular use is traditionally prescribed to help normalize cycle frequency and reduce cramping associated with hormonal and uterine imbalance. Pelvic inflammation (mild): Mastagi Rumi (mastic resin) and pomegranate peel both carry anti-inflammatory compounds that may help soothe mild pelvic inflammation. This is a supportive role — not a replacement for medical treatment of serious infection. Post-partum uterine recovery: Sufoof Sailan is sometimes recommended in Unani practice after childbirth to help the uterus return to normal tone, reduce post-delivery discharge, and support pelvic floor recovery. Vaginal itching and irritation: The antimicrobial tannins — particularly from oak gall — may help reduce the fungal and bacterial overgrowth that causes vaginal itching and irritation, offering symptomatic relief alongside addressing the underlying imbalance. Fatigue and weakness associated with chronic discharge: In Unani medicine, chronic leucorrhoea is understood to drain vital energy (Mizaj). By addressing the discharge itself, the formula is thought to restore energy and reduce the fatigue that often accompanies long-standing cases. Hormonal imbalance in women: While not a direct hormone modulator, the uterine-toning and anti-inflammatory actions of the formula are traditionally considered supportive of overall female hormonal balance, particularly in cases where excess discharge or inflammation is disrupting normal hormonal rhythm.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
