This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Glycolic acid is the smallest and most skin-penetrating of the alpha-hydroxy acids, a family of naturally occurring organic acids found in fruits and plants. It's most commonly sourced from sugar cane, though it is now largely synthesized for cosmetic use. Because of its tiny molecular size, it travels deeper into the skin than other AHAs, making it one of the most effective topical exfoliants available without a prescription.
Glycolic acid works by loosening the glue-like bonds that hold dead skin cells together on the surface, allowing them to shed more easily and revealing the newer, brighter cells underneath. At higher concentrations it also signals the skin to produce more collagen — the protein that keeps skin firm and plump. Over time, this combination of exfoliation and collagen support smooths texture, fades discoloration, and softens fine lines.
For everyday use, leave-on serums or toners at 5–15% are the most practical and well-tolerated options. Rinse-off cleansers deliver lighter exfoliation with less irritation risk. At-home peel pads or treatments at 20–30% can be used once or twice a week. Professional in-office peels at 50–70% are done in a controlled clinical setting for more intensive skin resurfacing.
Alpha-hydroxy acids have been used empirically for skin care for centuries — most famously, ancient Egyptians used sour milk (containing lactic acid) and wine (tartaric acid) for skin softening. Glycolic acid specifically entered mainstream dermatology in the early 1970s when researchers Eugene Van Scott and Ruey Yu identified and studied its exfoliating and anti-aging properties. It has since become one of the most clinically studied cosmetic ingredients in dermatology.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
