Helps

What does Bacopa Monnieri help with? Bacopa monnieri is a small creeping marsh plant. Healers in India have used it for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine. The goal was to sharpen memory and calm the mind. For memory, the human research is strong by herbal standards. But the effect is slow, not instant. Other uses, like sleep and mood, rest on much thinner evidence. Trouble learning and remembering new things Strong evidence — repeated randomised human trials; this is Bacopa's best-documented use. In human trials, people taking Bacopa took in new information faster. They also recalled it more accurately later on. The effect built up slowly, and most people saw a real change after 8 to 12 weeks . Evidence grade A · Traditional tier T2 Staying sharp as you get older Strong evidence — consistent human studies in older adults. Studies in older adults found better working memory and steadier attention. Thinking speed held up better too. It is one of the better-studied plant options for people in their 60s and beyond. Evidence grade A · Traditional tier T2 Poor focus and attention, including ADHD Good evidence — several human trials in children and adults with attention problems. In these trials, people held their attention longer and acted less on impulse. Their thinking speed also picked up. Bacopa is not a stimulant, so it did not work the way ADHD drugs do. Evidence grade B · Traditional tier T2 Feeling wound up or stressed most of the time Early evidence — small human studies plus long traditional use. In studies, Bacopa eased the mental noise and tension of long-running, low-grade worry. It did this without making people drowsy. Herbalists call this an adaptogen effect: calm focus rather than sedation. Evidence grade C · Traditional tier T2 Brain fog and mental tiredness Early evidence — user reports and small human studies; the mechanism comes from lab work only. Many people who took Bacopa said the fog lifted after 4 to 6 weeks . In lab studies, it helped brain cells pass signals and shielded them from wear. Direct human proof for brain fog is still thin. Evidence grade C · Traditional tier T2 Mild low mood tied to stress or burnout Early evidence — modest clinical evidence in people. The clinical evidence here is small but points one way. People reported a lift in low mood and less flat feeling, mostly when stress was the cause. In lab work, Bacopa acted on serotonin and dopamine, two mood chemicals. Evidence grade C · Traditional tier T2 Poor sleep Long traditional use · not yet tested in trials — second-hand reports from people taking it for anxiety; no direct sleep trial on file. People who took Bacopa for anxiety often said they slept better. That looks like a knock-on effect of a calmer stress response. Bacopa is not a sedative and was not tested as a sleep aid here. Evidence grade D · Traditional tier T2 Protecting brain cells from wear and inflammation Long traditional use · not yet tested in trials — lab studies only. In lab studies, the bacosides in Bacopa acted as strong antioxidants in brain tissue. They also calmed inflammation. Many people think this explains its long-term effects, but that has not been shown in people. Evidence grade insufficient · Traditional tier T2 Borderline thyroid function Long traditional use · not yet tested in trials — early, preliminary research; not Bacopa's main use. Early research hints that Bacopa may support T4, a thyroid hormone. This work is at a very early stage. It may interest people with borderline thyroid readings, but solid human proof is missing. Evidence grade insufficient · Traditional tier T2 What Bacopa Monnieri has not been shown to do It has not been shown to give a same-day mental boost; in trials the memory change took 8 to 12 weeks . It has not been shown to work as a sleeping pill or a sedative. It has not been shown to work like stimulant medicine for ADHD, or to take its place. It has not been shown to help depression beyond mild, stress-linked low moo

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
