Tired and foggy headed all day
You sleep, then wake up tired. By mid-morning your head feels wrapped in cotton wool. Words come slowly, and you read the same line twice.
This kind of fog can have a gut link. Too many gut bugs may grow in your small bowel. They feed on your food first, which can leave you bloated, gassy, and low on fuel.
Some people notice the fog most after a big meal. Bread, sugar, and fizzy drinks can add to it. Other causes are common too: low iron, low B12, a slow thyroid, poor sleep, stress, or low mood.
When to see someone
See your doctor if you drop weight without trying, or spot blood in your stool. Get checked for numb hands or feet, a racing heart, fever, or short breath. If your speech slurs or one arm goes weak, call for emergency help now.
Below are remedies people use for SIBO, each with an evidence grade. A high grade means more human research; a low grade means little proof so far. The grade rates the studies, not a promise, so talk to your doctor first.
