Crying all day after having baby
You cry, and you may not know why. The tears come over small things, or over nothing at all. Some days it happens again and again, from morning to night.
Your body goes through big hormone shifts after birth. Sleep is broken, your body is sore, and your baby needs you at all hours. Many new parents feel teary, low, or numb in these first weeks.
Weepy days in the first two weeks often get called the baby blues. Crying that goes on past that may be a sign of postpartum depression. That is a real health problem, not a sign that you are a bad parent.
When to see someone
Call your doctor or midwife if you cry most days after the first two weeks. Get help right away if you think about harming yourself or your baby. Call too if you cannot sleep or eat, or you feel unable to care for your baby.
Below is a list of home and natural options that people use at this stage. Each one carries a grade that shows how strong the research behind it is. A grade is not a promise, so talk with your doctor or midwife first.
