This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Xiao Yao San — translated as 'Free and Easy Wanderer' — is one of the most celebrated formulas in traditional Chinese medicine, first recorded in the Song Dynasty text 'Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang' (around 1078 CE). It combines eight herbs that work together to smooth emotional tension, support digestion, nourish the blood, and restore a sense of easy, flowing vitality. In TCM terms it addresses 'Liver Qi stagnation' with underlying blood deficiency — a pattern that maps closely onto the modern experience of stress-driven mood changes, hormonal tension, and fatigue.
The formula works on multiple body systems at once. Chai Hu and Bo He help release pent-up tension and support the nervous system's stress response. Bai Shao and Dang Gui nourish and regulate the blood, which in women is closely tied to hormonal balance and emotional stability. Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, and Gan Cao support digestion and energy production, ensuring the body has the resources it needs to handle stress without depleting itself. Together, these herbs create a calming, regulating effect on mood, hormones, and the gut-brain axis.
Traditional decoction (boiling the raw herbs) remains the gold standard but requires preparation time. Patent pills (wan) and capsules offer everyday convenience and are the most common form used in clinical trials. Granules dissolve in hot water and represent a practical middle ground. Concentrated liquid extracts are also available. Dosing equivalency varies by manufacturer — always follow the product's own instructions since herb ratios and extraction strengths differ.
Xiao Yao San has been a cornerstone of Chinese herbal medicine for nearly a millennium, appearing in official imperial pharmacy texts and taught in every traditional Chinese medical school to this day. It remains one of the top five most prescribed Chinese herbal formulas in modern TCM clinical practice across China, Taiwan, and Chinese diaspora communities worldwide. Its enduring use in treating emotional, hormonal, and digestive complaints has made it one of the most studied TCM formulas in modern pharmacological and clinical research.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
