This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Xiao Jian Zhong Tang (Small Strengthening the Middle Decoction) is one of the oldest and most respected formulas in Chinese medicine, first recorded in Zhang Zhongjing's Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage Disorders) around 200 CE. Its name tells you exactly what it does — 'jian zhong' means to strengthen the middle, referring to the digestive center. The formula is built around a generous amount of malt sugar (maltose), making it unusually sweet and distinctly nourishing compared to most herbal prescriptions.
The formula is thought to work by warming the digestive system, potentially relaxing smooth muscle spasm in the gut, and gently rebuilding energy reserves in people who are depleted or run-down. Cinnamon twig and ginger are traditionally used to bring warming circulation to the abdomen, while peony root with licorice forms a classic pairing long used for easing cramping. The large dose of maltose provides carbohydrate energy that the classical tradition saw as directly nourishing the digestive organs.
In Japan (where it is called Shokenchuto or TJ-100), this formula is widely used as standardized granules. In China and among TCM practitioners globally, it is most often prepared as a decoction (boiled tea). Pre-made granule packets, capsules, and concentrated extracts are all available and convenient for daily use.
Originally described by Zhang Zhongjing around 200 CE in the Shang Han Lun, one of the foundational texts of Chinese medicine. It later became a core pediatric formula in classical texts, especially for thin, tired, or easily fatigued children with abdominal pain. In Japan, the Kampo medical tradition adopted it centuries ago, and it remains an approved Kampo medicine today, giving it a unique distinction of having both ancient classical roots and modern regulated clinical use.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
