This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Water filtration systems are devices that remove physical, chemical, and biological contaminants from tap or well water before you drink or cook with it. Modern municipal water, while treated for pathogens, still commonly contains chlorine, chloramine, lead, fluoride, nitrates, pharmaceutical residues, and emerging contaminants like PFAS (forever chemicals) and microplastics. A good filtration system acts as a final layer of protection between the water supply and your body.
Different filter types target different contaminants. Activated carbon absorbs chlorine, chloramine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and some pesticides by trapping them in a porous carbon surface. Reverse osmosis forces water through an ultra-fine semi-permeable membrane that blocks heavy metals, fluoride, nitrates, and most dissolved solids. UV light damages the DNA of bacteria and viruses, rendering them harmless. Ion exchange resins swap harmful ions like lead or arsenic for harmless ones. Most high-quality systems combine two or more of these methods for broad-spectrum protection.
Pitcher filters are affordable and easy to use but require frequent cartridge changes. Under-sink reverse osmosis systems are the most thorough option for drinking and cooking water. Whole-house systems protect every tap and shower. Shower filters specifically target chlorine and chloramine absorbed through skin and inhaled as steam. Gravity-fed systems like Berkey need no electricity or plumbing and are popular off-grid.
Humans have been filtering water for thousands of years using sand, gravel, and charcoal. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks described boiling and straining water for purity. Modern municipal water treatment became widespread in the early 1900s after chlorination dramatically reduced waterborne disease. Home filtration systems became popular in the 1970s-1980s as awareness of industrial contamination, lead pipes, and chlorine byproducts grew. The discovery of PFAS and microplastic contamination in the 2000s-2010s reignited public interest and drove a major expansion of the home filtration market.
