This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

At-home lab testing kits are FDA-regulated or CLIA-certified diagnostic tools that allow you to collect biological samples — blood, urine, saliva, or stool — at home and send them to an accredited laboratory for analysis. They cover a wide range of health panels including hormones, thyroid markers, lipid profiles, blood sugar, key nutrients, and even gut microbiome composition. Results are typically delivered through a secure online portal or app, often with explanatory context and, in some services, access to a clinician for follow-up.
You collect a small biological sample using the provided collection device — most commonly a finger-prick lancet for dried blood spot cards — and mail it to the partner lab using prepaid packaging. Certified laboratories analyze the sample using the same analytical methods used in clinical settings (immunoassay, mass spectrometry, PCR, or DNA sequencing depending on the panel). Your results are benchmarked against reference ranges and returned digitally, giving you a quantified snapshot of where specific biomarkers sit relative to optimal health ranges.
Dried blood spot (DBS) cards are the most common format — a few drops from a finger lancet are applied to filter paper and mailed. Urine kits use timed or first-morning samples in provided containers. Saliva kits collect samples via tubes at specified times of day (important for cortisol, which follows a daily rhythm). Cheek swab kits are used for genetic or hormone metabolite testing. Stool kits use preservation vials for microbiome or GI pathogen screening.
Direct-to-consumer lab testing became commercially viable in the early 2010s with companies like WellnessFX and then Everlywell, LetsGetChecked, and Viome popularizing the model. The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically accelerated adoption, normalizing home collection and telehealth follow-up. Regulatory frameworks continue to evolve, with the FDA providing oversight for many test categories and CLIA certification required for the analyzing laboratories.
