This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a therapeutic approach developed by trauma specialist Dr. Peter Levine in the 1970s-80s, rooted in the observation that animals in the wild rarely develop lasting trauma responses because they physically discharge stress through shaking, trembling, and movement. SE works on the principle that unresolved trauma becomes stored in the body as incomplete defensive responses — tension, numbness, hypervigilance — rather than just in memory or thought. Sessions guide people to slowly tune into bodily sensations and gently complete these stuck responses, restoring the nervous system's natural ability to regulate itself.
SE works by tracking physical sensations (called 'interoception') to identify where the body is holding stress or freeze responses. The practitioner uses a technique called titration — introducing tiny doses of traumatic material at a time — so the nervous system can process without becoming overwhelmed again. This is paired with pendulation, rhythmically moving attention between areas of distress and areas of calm in the body, which gradually expands the nervous system's capacity to handle difficult experiences without shutting down or spiraling. Over time, this helps shift the autonomic nervous system from chronic fight-flight-freeze patterns back toward a balanced, regulated state.
SE is primarily delivered in individual sessions with a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), a credential requiring 3 years of professional training. Group formats exist and are used in some community trauma settings. Telehealth delivery has become widely available and research suggests it is comparably effective for many presentations. Self-guided SE exercises — like grounding, orienting, and tracking sensations — are commonly taught as between-session practices but are not a standalone substitute for clinical SE with complex trauma.
Dr. Peter Levine developed SE after studying stress physiology, animal behavior, and neuroscience, observing that prey animals like gazelles routinely shake off near-death experiences without lasting trauma. He first described the model in his 1997 book 'Waking the Tiger' and later in 'In an Unspoken Voice' (2010). SE has since grown into a globally recognized trauma therapy with a certification body (the Foundation for Human Enrichment / SE International) and a growing base of clinical research supporting its use for PTSD, anxiety, and somatic complaints.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
