This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

4-7-8 Breathing is a simple breath-control technique where you breathe in quietly through the nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, then exhale completely through the mouth for 8 seconds. It was popularized by integrative medicine physician Dr. Andrew Weil, who adapted it from ancient Indian pranayama (breath control) traditions. The extended exhale and breath-hold are the key ingredients — they shift your nervous system from a stressed, alert state into a calm, rested one.
When you extend your exhale and hold your breath, you stimulate the vagus nerve — the main nerve of your body's rest-and-digest system. This slows your heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and dials down the fight-or-flight response. Holding the breath also allows carbon dioxide to accumulate briefly, which has a natural sedating effect on the brain and helps reduce feelings of panic or racing thoughts.
No equipment required — the practice is completely self-contained. Beginners can use a guided audio app or video to pace counts correctly. Some practitioners use biofeedback devices (like HRV monitors) to see real-time nervous system shifts during practice, which can deepen the learning curve.
Breath control as medicine is one of humanity's oldest practices. Pranayama — the Sanskrit word for breath regulation — is described in the Yoga Sutras and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, texts that are thousands of years old. Ancient yogic teachers understood that the breath was the only autonomic function a person could consciously control, making it the direct gateway to the nervous system. Dr. Weil formalized the 4-7-8 ratio in the modern era as a quick, teachable adaptation of these techniques, calling it 'a natural tranquilizer for the nervous system.'
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
