This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Qian Shi is the seed kernel of Euryale ferox, an aquatic plant in the water lily family grown across East and South Asia. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is classified as sweet and astringent in flavor, and neutral in temperature — making it one of the gentler kidney and spleen tonics in the entire materia medica. It has been documented in foundational TCM texts including the Shennong Bencao Jing (Divine Farmer's Classic of Materia Medica) and has remained a staple of classical herbal formulas for centuries.
Qian Shi works through two main pathways: its astringent compounds help tighten and tone tissues in the urinary tract and reproductive organs, reducing leakage of fluids, while its spleen-strengthening properties improve digestive absorption and reduce dampness accumulation. Modern research suggests its lectins and flavonoids carry anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, and its GABA content may support relaxation of pelvic floor overactivity. It is often described in TCM as 'consolidating the essence and securing the lower orifices.'
Qian Shi is most traditionally prepared as a decoction, simmered alone or combined with other herbs such as Lian Zi (lotus seed), Shan Yao (Chinese yam), or Tu Si Zi. It is also available as a concentrated granule or powder for mixing into warm water, and less commonly in capsule form. The whole seed is edible and used in Asian cooking — particularly in congee and soups — providing a mild, starchy flavor.
Qian Shi has been used in Chinese medicine for at least 2,000 years and appears in the Shennong Bencao Jing, one of the oldest Chinese pharmacopoeias. Classical texts describe it as a superior tonic for the kidney and spleen, particularly suited for the elderly and those with constitutionally weak digestive or urinary function. It remains a key ingredient in classical formulas such as Jin Suo Gu Jing Wan (Golden Lock Essence-Securing Pill) and Shui Lu Er Xian Dan, which are still widely prescribed today across China, Taiwan, and among TCM practitioners globally.
