This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Nux Moschata is the inner seed of Myristica fragrans, a tropical evergreen tree native to the Banda Islands of Indonesia. The same tree produces both nutmeg (the seed) and mace (the red aril surrounding it). Used for over a thousand years in Ayurveda, Unani, and traditional Chinese medicine, it has been prized as a warming digestive spice, a nerve calmer, and a remedy for diarrhea and insomnia. In homeopathic medicine, Nux Moschata is a distinct constitutional remedy used for mental and emotional fogginess, extreme drowsiness, and dryness symptoms.
Nutmeg's primary active compound, myristicin, influences the central nervous system by modulating monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity and affecting serotonin and dopamine pathways — which helps explain its sedating, mood-influencing, and analgesic effects. Eugenol and other phenylpropanoids contribute anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic actions in the gut, helping relax intestinal smooth muscle and ease cramping. The seed's warming volatile oils stimulate digestive enzyme activity and promote circulation to the abdominal region.
Culinary powder (small pinches) is the safest and most accessible form. Medicinal-grade powders and extracts are used in Ayurvedic and Unani formulations at carefully calibrated doses. Essential oil is used topically for muscle pain and aromatherapy. Homeopathic preparations use extreme dilutions and are considered separately from phytomedicinal use.
Arab traders introduced nutmeg to Europe in the Middle Ages, where it became so valuable it triggered colonial wars over the Banda Islands. Avicenna's Canon of Medicine described it as a tonic for the liver, brain, and stomach. In Ayurveda it appears in the Charaka Samhita as Jatiphala, recommended for digestive weakness, diarrhea, and mental fatigue. It was used medicinally throughout the Islamic Golden Age and later became a fixture of European apothecaries for digestive and nervous complaints.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
