This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Niacinamide is the active, skin-friendly form of vitamin B3 that, when applied topically, works directly within skin cells to improve a broad range of concerns. Unlike some potent actives, it plays well with nearly every other ingredient and suits almost every skin type. It has become one of the most clinically studied topical skincare ingredients of the past two decades.
Niacinamide feeds into the skin's natural energy currency (NAD+), which powers cellular repair and keeps the skin barrier functioning well. It dials down the transfer of pigment from pigment-producing cells into the surface skin cells, which is why it fades dark spots over time. It also regulates sebum production, calms inflammatory signals that drive redness and breakouts, and boosts the production of proteins like ceramides that hold the skin barrier together.
Serums deliver higher active concentrations and absorb quickly, making them ideal for targeted concerns like dark spots or acne. Lotions and moisturizers combine niacinamide with hydrating agents, making them better suited for dry or sensitive skin focused on barrier repair. Toners with niacinamide are a lighter daily option for oily skin types.
Niacinamide has been used in dermatology since the mid-20th century, initially studied for its role in treating pellagra (vitamin B3 deficiency). Its topical skin benefits were systematically investigated from the 1990s onward, with major clinical trials confirming its role in hyperpigmentation, acne, rosacea, and barrier repair by the early 2000s.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
