This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Meshima is a bracket fungus that grows on mulberry trees across East Asia, prized for centuries in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese traditional medicine as one of the most potent medicinal mushrooms in existence. Its tough, dark exterior earned it the nickname 'black hoof mushroom,' and traditional healers valued it especially for strengthening the body's defenses against disease. Today it is studied primarily for its ability to stimulate immune cells and for compounds that appear to slow the growth of certain cancer cells in laboratory settings.
Meshima's beta-glucans and proteoglycans bind to receptors on immune cells — particularly natural killer (NK) cells, macrophages, and T-cells — helping activate and amplify the body's own defense system. Its unique polyphenol compounds, especially hispolon and caffeic acid derivatives, appear to reduce inflammatory signaling and interfere with pathways that some cancer cells rely on to survive and spread. Together these actions make Meshima both an immune modulator and a broad anti-inflammatory agent.
Hot water extraction is the traditional and most validated method — it captures the water-soluble beta-glucans most effectively. Dual-extraction products (hot water plus alcohol) also pull out fat-soluble polyphenols like hispolon. Standardized capsule or granule extracts with a declared beta-glucan percentage are preferable to raw mushroom powder, which delivers far less bioavailable active compounds.
Meshima's use dates back at least to the Edo period in Japan, where it was burned as moxa and taken as a decoction to treat conditions associated with poor immune vitality and 'stagnant blood.' In Korea it was one of the most expensive folk remedies, reportedly reserved for serious illnesses including cancer. Chinese texts reference Sang Huang (Phellinus linteus) as a detoxifying tonic. Modern scientific interest accelerated in the 1990s and 2000s when Japanese and Korean research programs began isolating its active compounds in the context of cancer adjunct therapy.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
