What is it? Magnesium malate is a compound made by combining magnesium with malic acid, an organic compound found in many fruits and vegetables. This form of magnesium is known for its high bioavailability and is often used to support energy production and reduce muscle pain and fatigue. How does it work for medicinal purposes? Magnesium malate works by providing magnesium, an essential mineral involved in numerous physiological processes, and malic acid, which plays a crucial role in the Krebs cycle, the process through which the body produces energy. This combination helps to enhance energy production, reduce muscle pain, and support overall cellular health. Magnesium also supports nerve function, muscle relaxation, and the maintenance of a healthy heartbeat. What are the active ingredients that are important for its medicinal properties? The primary active ingredients in magnesium malate include: Magnesium : Essential for over 300 enzymatic reactions, including muscle and nerve function, blood sugar control, and blood pressure regulation. Malic Acid : An organic compound that aids in energy production by supporting the Krebs cycle. What forms does it come in? Capsules Tablets Powder What if I have an imbalance or deficiency? Magnesium malate can help correct magnesium deficiency, which can cause symptoms such as muscle cramps, fatigue, headaches, and mental health issues. Supplementing with magnesium malate can restore normal magnesium levels and improve overall health and well-being. When was it first used for medicinal purposes? Helps

What does Magnesium Malate help with? Magnesium malate is a supplement. It pairs magnesium, a mineral your body needs, with malic acid, found in fruit. People take it for muscle pain, cramps, low energy and poor sleep. The honest state of the evidence is thin. Our files hold no trial of magnesium malate itself with a size, dose or journal on record. Most claims rest on what magnesium does in the body, not on tests of this product. Fibromyalgia: wide body pain and tender spots Early evidence — small, early human studies of magnesium with malic acid; no trial size or dose on file. Early human work tested magnesium with malic acid for wide body pain. Our files hold no trial size, dose or journal name for that work. Some people with fibromyalgia have been found to run low in magnesium. Evidence grade C Migraines and frequent headaches Early evidence — human studies of magnesium, not of the malate form; no sizes or doses on file. In human studies, regular magnesium cut how often migraines came back. That was seen in people who were low in magnesium. Our files list no trial size, dose or journal for this use. Evidence grade C Muscle cramps and spasms Evidence doesn't support this — general nutrition science on low magnesium; no trial of magnesium malate on file. Low magnesium is a known cause of muscle cramps in nutrition science. Magnesium is well established to help control the calcium signals that make muscles tighten. Whether magnesium malate eases cramps has not been tested in any trial on file. Evidence grade D Anxiety and everyday stress Evidence doesn't support this — link studies only, which cannot show cause. Several studies linked low magnesium with higher stress and anxiety scores. These were link studies, so they cannot show what caused what. No trial of magnesium malate for stress is on file here. Evidence grade D Trouble falling or staying asleep Evidence doesn't support this — lab work on brain chemistry plus reports from people with low levels; no sleep trial on file. In lab studies, magnesium took part in making GABA, a calming brain chemical. People with low magnesium often report poor sleep. Our files hold no sleep trial of magnesium malate, so its effect on sleep is unclear. Evidence grade D Blood sugar control Evidence doesn't support this — studies that track people over time, not trials of this supplement. Low magnesium has been linked again and again with higher blood sugar. Those were tracking studies, and they did not test this supplement. Magnesium is well established to play a role in how the body responds to insulin. Evidence grade D Mild constipation Evidence doesn't support this — known effect of magnesium salts in general; no trial of the malate form on file. Magnesium salts are well known to pull water into the gut. That is general science, not a test of magnesium malate. Our files hold no human trial of this form for constipation. Evidence grade D Long term tiredness and low energy Not yet tested in people — cell biology only; no human trial on file. Malic acid and magnesium both take part in how cells make energy. That is textbook cell biology, not a trial of this product. No human study of magnesium malate for fatigue is on file. Evidence grade insufficient Sore muscles after exercise Not yet tested in people — proposed mechanism only; no human trial on file. The idea is that malic acid speeds the clearing of waste from working muscles. Our files hold no human trial testing that idea. Magnesium's role in muscle relaxation is general science, and it does not show what this product does. Evidence grade insufficient What Magnesium Malate has not been shown to do No trial on file shows that magnesium malate cures or resolves fibromyalgia. Nothing on file shows it lowers blood sugar enough to stand in for diabetes care. No head to head trial on file shows this form works better than other magnesium forms. Nothing on file shows it treats an anxiety disorder or replaces mental health care. It has not be

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
