This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Lian Qiao (Forsythia suspensa fruit) is one of the most widely used herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine, classified as bitter and slightly cold in nature, acting on the Heart, Lung, and Gallbladder meridians. It is the foundational herb in the classical formula Yin Qiao San (Silver and Forsythia Powder), which has been used for millennia to treat wind-heat invasions presenting as fever, sore throat, and upper respiratory symptoms. Modern phytochemical research has identified a range of bioactive compounds—most notably forsythosides and phenylethanoid glycosides—responsible for its antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities.
Lian Qiao's primary active compounds, particularly forsythoside A and phillyrin, inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokine production (including TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β) via suppression of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways. The herb also demonstrates broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and antiviral effects against respiratory pathogens including influenza A. Forsythoside A has been specifically investigated for its ability to disrupt bacterial biofilm formation and inhibit neuraminidase activity in influenza viruses.
In TCM clinical practice, Lian Qiao is most commonly used as part of a multi-herb decoction or in classical granule formulas. Standardized extracts in capsule or tablet form are available in Western markets, often standardized to forsythoside A content. The herb is most clinically documented in the context of combination formulas such as Yin Qiao San and Shuang Huang Lian (a preparation also containing Huang Qin and Jin Yin Hua), which have been more rigorously studied than Lian Qiao in isolation.
