This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Ji Xue Teng (Spatholobus suberectus) is a large woody vine found across Guangdong, Yunnan, and Guangxi provinces in China. When cut, the stem releases a dark reddish sap resembling blood — the origin of its evocative name 'Chicken Blood Vine.' It is one of the most important herbs in TCM for conditions involving both blood deficiency and blood stagnation, a combination that makes it traditionally valued in classical formulation.
Ji Xue Teng is thought to work along two complementary pathways in traditional practice: it is used to build blood by supporting red blood cell production and hemoglobin levels, while simultaneously promoting healthy blood circulation and relieving stagnation. Its isoflavone compounds — particularly formononetin and calycosin — may have mild estrogen-like activity that could help regulate hormonal balance in the uterus and bone marrow. Its procyanidins and catechins are thought to provide antioxidant support and may help reduce inflammation in joints and soft tissue.
Traditional use involves simmering thick stem slices into a decoction, often combined with other herbs. Modern preparations include standardized granule extracts and capsules. For blood-building purposes, the decoction or granule form is most consistent with clinical practice. Capsule forms vary widely in standardization — look for products specifying total isoflavone content.
Ji Xue Teng appears in classical Chinese materia medica texts dating to the Ming Dynasty and is formally documented in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. It has been used continuously in TCM for over 500 years to treat amenorrhea, menstrual pain, post-illness blood weakness, and rheumatic joint pain. It gained renewed clinical attention in the mid-20th century when Chinese oncologists began using it to help restore white blood cell counts in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
