This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

An infrared heating pad emits invisible light waves in the infrared spectrum — primarily far infrared (FIR) — that penetrate 2–4 centimeters below the skin surface, warming muscles, joints, and connective tissue directly rather than just the skin. This deeper heat penetration is what sets infrared pads apart from conventional electric heating pads, which heat only the skin surface. Many models embed natural crystals like amethyst, jade, or tourmaline, which are said to enhance infrared emission and release negative ions, though the clinical significance of crystal type is still being studied.
Infrared energy is absorbed by the body's tissues and causes a gentle rise in local tissue temperature, which dilates blood vessels, increases circulation, and delivers more oxygen and nutrients to muscles and joints. This process also helps relax tight muscle fibers, reduce inflammatory markers in localized tissue, and activate the parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) nervous system, promoting a full-body sense of calm. The deeper tissue penetration means therapeutic warmth reaches tendons, ligaments, and even joint capsules that conventional surface heat cannot effectively reach.
Infrared heating pads come in small localized pads for the neck, back, or knees; medium full-back pads; and full-body mats large enough to lie on. Portable cordless versions exist for travel. PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) combination mats pair FIR with low-level magnetic pulse therapy for users seeking compounded benefits. Crystal-embedded mats (amethyst, jade, tourmaline) are popular in the wellness market and tend to be the premium tier.
Infrared thermotherapy has been studied since the early 20th century, but clinical-grade infrared devices became widely used in physical therapy and sports medicine settings in Japan and Korea in the 1980s and 1990s. Consumer-grade infrared heating pads entered the US and European markets in the early 2000s, growing rapidly as chronic pain management became a mainstream wellness concern. The tradition of heat therapy itself — using warmed stones, clay, or steam — extends across nearly every human civilization for thousands of years.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
