This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Glucagon is a peptide hormone naturally produced by the alpha cells of the pancreas. It acts as the body's built-in blood sugar rescue signal — when glucose drops too low, glucagon tells the liver to release stored sugar back into the bloodstream. GlucaGen is a pharmaceutical-grade recombinant version of this hormone, chemically identical to what your body makes, used when the body's own emergency system isn't enough.
Glucagon binds to receptors on liver cells and triggers the breakdown of stored glycogen into glucose, rapidly releasing it into the blood. It also stimulates the liver to produce new glucose from non-sugar sources. This dual action makes it highly effective at reversing dangerous blood sugar crashes within minutes — even in someone who is unconscious and cannot take food or drink by mouth.
The original GlucaGen kit requires mixing a powder with liquid before injection — effective but requires some preparation. Newer formulations make emergency use much simpler: Baqsimi is a nasal powder that requires no needles; Gvoke is an autoinjector pen; Zegalogue (dasiglucagon) is a next-generation prefilled syringe. All forms are prescription-only and intended for emergency use or clinical settings.
Glucagon was first isolated from pancreatic tissue in 1923, shortly after insulin's discovery. Its clinical use as an emergency hypoglycemia rescue agent became standard of care through the latter half of the 20th century. Recombinant DNA production (GlucaGen) replaced animal-derived glucagon in the 1990s, improving purity and consistency. Needle-free delivery systems (Baqsimi nasal powder) received FDA approval in 2019, dramatically lowering the barrier to emergency use by untrained bystanders.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
