What does Ginkgo Biloba and Panax Ginseng Combined help with? Ginkgo biloba and Panax ginseng are two herbs from Chinese medicine. Both have been used in East Asia for thousands of years. Today they are often sold together as a brain and energy blend. The overall evidence grade on file is B. That means good human trials back some of the uses below. Other uses rest on lab work, on one herb alone, or on tradition. Memory and recall Good evidence — human trials of the two herbs taken together. In trials of the blend, people scored better on working memory tasks. Working memory is the short-term mental space you use to learn and solve problems. The file does not list the trial sizes, doses or journals. Evidence grade B · Traditional tier T1 Focus, attention and reaction time Good evidence — clinical trials using this exact herb pairing. Trials of the pairing found better sustained attention and more accurate task scores. Reaction speed and the ability to switch attention also improved in these trials. No trial sizes or doses are held in this file. Evidence grade B · Traditional tier T1 Blood flow to the brain, hands and feet Good evidence — many human trials of ginkgo alone; less direct study of the blend. Ginkgo is one of the most studied plants for healthy blood flow. In lab studies, it widened blood vessels and made blood cells less likely to clump. Ginseng has also been studied for blood vessel and heart health, and the file lists no sizes or doses. Evidence grade B · Traditional tier T1 Physical stamina and energy Good evidence — human studies of Panax ginseng alone, not of the blend. Ginseng has a long human research record for endurance and less tiredness. Studies also looked at how well the body uses oxygen during exercise. Those trials tested ginseng on its own, and no sizes or doses are on file. Evidence grade B · Traditional tier T1 Memory changes that come with age Early evidence — studies in older adults with mild memory concerns; early results. Some of the strongest work on this blend looked at older adults with mild memory worries. In lab and animal work, both herbs supported brain blood flow and guarded cells from a kind of wear called oxidative damage. Whether the blend slows age-related change in people is not settled. Evidence grade C · Traditional tier T1 Mood and a sense of mental brightness Early evidence — several human studies where mood was a second measure. Several studies noted better mood and more calm alongside the thinking gains. In lab research, ginseng acts on brain signalling chemicals and ginkgo on brain blood flow. Mood was measured next to thinking scores, not on its own. Evidence grade C · Traditional tier T1 Mental tiredness and brain fog Early evidence — human studies of each herb alone; the blend is less studied. Each herb on its own has shown gains for mental tiredness in people. Reports on the blend suggest less of the worn-out feeling after hard mental work. Study sizes, doses and journals are not held in this file. Evidence grade C · Traditional tier T1 Mild day-to-day anxious tension Evidence doesn't support this — some calming effects with ginkgo in anxious older adults; no trial of the blend. Ginkgo showed some calming effects in older adults who felt anxious. This file holds no trial of the two herbs together for anxiety. So no anxiety effect can be claimed for the blend. Evidence grade D · Traditional tier T1 Stress and staying steady under pressure Not yet tested in people — traditional adaptogen idea plus lab work; no human trial of the blend on file. Ginseng is called an adaptogen. That is a traditional term for herbs said to balance the body's stress response. In lab studies ginkgo acted as an antioxidant, but no human trial of the blend for stress is on file, so no effect can be claimed. Evidence grade insufficient · Traditional tier T1 What Ginkgo Biloba and Panax Ginseng Combined has not been shown to do It is not a treatment for dementia or Alzheimer's disease; the aging stu

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
