What is Drosera (30C)? Drosera (30C) is a homeopathic remedy derived from the carnivorous sundew plant, prepared through a process of serial dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking) until no detectable molecules of the original plant remain. At 30C potency, the dilution is 10 to the power of 60 — far beyond Avogadro's number — so the remedy works, according to homeopathic theory, through an imprinted 'energetic signature' of the plant rather than any chemical action. It is one of the most historically well-known homeopathic remedies for cough-related complaints. How does Drosera (30C) work? In conventional scientific terms, a 30C dilution contains no measurable active compounds, and the mechanism of action remains unexplained by standard pharmacology. Homeopathic practitioners believe the water or carrier retains a 'memory' or energetic imprint of the original substance, which is said to stimulate the body's self-healing response. The choice of Drosera in homeopathy is guided by the principle of 'like cures like' — the raw sundew plant was observed to cause spasmodic coughing in healthy subjects during provings, so it is prescribed for similar cough patterns in patients. What forms does Drosera (30C) come in? Available as small lactose or sucrose pellets (globules), liquid dilutions in ethanol, or compressed tablets. Pellets dissolved under the tongue are the most traditional and widely used form. Where it comes from: Drosera was first introduced into homeopathic practice by Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, in his 'Materia Medica Pura' (1811–1821). Hahnemann reportedly used it himself for a persistent cough and noted its profile in healthy-subject provings. European folk herbalists had long used the crude sundew plant for coughs and whooping cough before homeopathy formalized its use. It remains one of the top-listed homeopathic remedies in classical homeopathic texts for Bordetella pertussis-like (whooping cough-type) presentations.

Helps

What does Drosera (30C) help with? Whooping cough-type spasmodic cough: Drosera 30C is the most classically prescribed homeopathic remedy for deep, barking, or whooping-style coughs — coughs that come in fits and feel hard to stop. Homeopathic practitioners select it when coughs follow one another rapidly and the person struggles to catch their breath between bouts. Dry, persistent nighttime cough: This remedy is traditionally indicated when coughing is notably worse after midnight or when lying down. Practitioners describe the pattern as a dry, tickling irritation that disturbs sleep and is not relieved by normal cough remedies. Cough after respiratory infections: Drosera is commonly recommended in homeopathic practice for lingering coughs that persist long after an acute respiratory illness has cleared. It is thought to suit a stage where the cough has become chronic and spasmodic rather than productive. Laryngitis with hoarseness: When hoarseness accompanies a deep cough — particularly in people who strain their voice or lose it — Drosera is one of the remedies homeopaths consider. The indication is usually a rough, raw feeling in the larynx combined with effortful speaking. Croup-like cough in children: Homeopathic practitioners have traditionally used Drosera for croup-like presentations in children — a loud, barking cough that comes on suddenly, often at night. Parents and practitioners use it as a gentle first-response option while monitoring the child's breathing. Cough worse when lying down: A hallmark indicator for Drosera in homeopathy is a cough that becomes significantly worse the moment the person lies flat. This positional worsening at night is considered one of the key 'modalities' that guides a practitioner to select this remedy over others. Tickling or irritating throat cough: Drosera is often suggested for a persistent tickle deep in the throat or larynx that triggers uncontrollable coughing. Practitioners note it suits those who feel the tickle is constant and not soothed by drinking water. Asthma-associated cough (adjunct support): Some homeopathic practitioners include Drosera in supportive protocols for asthma when the dominant symptom is a dry, spasmodic cough rather than wheezing. It is used as a complementary approach alongside conventional asthma management, not as a replacement.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
