This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Dhanwantharam Taila is one of the most revered classical formulas in Ayurvedic medicine, named after Dhanvantari — the divine physician of Ayurveda. It is a polyherbal medicated oil prepared through a traditional cooking process (taila paka vidhi) in which more than 25 herbs are decocted, then cooked into a sesame oil and milk base over many hours. The result is a deeply nourishing oil used both as a massage oil and, in small doses, taken internally under practitioner guidance.
The oil works primarily by calming Vata dosha — the Ayurvedic principle governing movement, nerves, and dryness. The herbs in the formula are known for their warming, muscle-nourishing, and nerve-supporting properties: Bala strengthens muscle tissue, Dashamula soothes inflammation and supports nerve function, and the sesame oil base itself is deeply lubricating to joints and tissues. When massaged in, the oil penetrates through the skin and acts on underlying muscles and nerves, helping to reduce pain, stiffness, and weakness.
The most common form is the plain medicated oil for external massage (abhyanga). For more intensive therapeutic use, the Avartti form involves re-cooking the oil multiple times (101 times in the most potent versions), which concentrates its potency. Internal (oral) use is a traditional practice under Ayurvedic supervision — typically a few milliliters in warm milk. Capsule or soft-gel forms are increasingly available for oral supplementation in modern markets.
Dhanwantharam Taila is described in classical Ayurvedic texts including the Ashtanga Hridayam and Sahasrayogam, placing its formal documentation at over 1,000 years old. It has been a cornerstone of Kerala's Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detox and rejuvenation) tradition, where it is applied during full-body oil massage (abhyanga), therapeutic dripping over the forehead (shirodhara), and postpartum care. Its name honors Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurvedic medicine, reflecting the reverence with which the formula has been held across generations of practitioners.
