This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Cruciferous vegetables — broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, cauliflower, cabbage, and bok choy — are among the most studied foods in nutrition science. They get their power from sulfur-containing compounds called glucosinolates, which break down into two superstar actives: sulforaphane and DIM (diindolylmethane). These compounds work in ways most foods simply can't match, influencing everything from hormone clearance to cellular defense.
Sulforaphane activates a master switch in your cells called Nrf2, which turns on your body's own antioxidant and detox enzymes — essentially teaching your cells to clean house more efficiently. DIM, which forms when you chew and digest indole-3-carbinol (I3C), helps your liver process estrogen down healthier pathways, shifting the balance away from more aggressive estrogen metabolites toward gentler, protective ones. Together, these compounds support liver detox, reduce inflammatory signals, and help maintain healthy hormone levels.
Whole vegetables are the gold standard — especially raw or lightly steamed broccoli sprouts, which contain 10–100x more glucoraphanin than mature broccoli. Supplements come in standardized sulforaphane (often as stabilized SGS/glucoraphanin + myrosinase), DIM capsules (often with absorption enhancers like BioPerine), or combined I3C formulas. Cooking significantly reduces myrosinase activity, so raw, lightly steamed, or paired with a myrosinase source (like mustard powder) is best for sulforaphane yield.
Brassica vegetables have been cultivated for over 6,000 years across Europe, Asia, and the Mediterranean. Ancient Roman and Greek physicians prescribed cabbage for digestive ailments and wound healing. The modern scientific story began in the 1990s when Johns Hopkins researchers identified sulforaphane and linked broccoli sprout consumption to reduced cancer risk markers — triggering decades of active clinical research.
