What is it? Collagen peptides, also known as hydrolyzed collagen, are small protein chains derived from collagen, a protein that serves as a critical building block in our bodies, accounting for about a third of the body's total protein. They are used for various medicinal and health purposes. How does it work for medicinal purposes? Collagen peptides work for medicinal purposes by providing the body with the necessary amino acids to produce new collagen, promoting healthy skin, bones, joints, and other tissues. These peptides are easily absorbed in the digestive system and distributed through the bloodstream to cells in different parts of the body, where they act as building blocks and stimulate the production of new collagen. What are the active ingredients that are important for its medicinal properties? The key active ingredients in collagen peptides are the amino acids glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, and arginine. These are the primary constituents of collagen in the body and contribute significantly to the medicinal properties of collagen peptides. What forms does it come in? Collagen peptides are available in various forms including powders, capsules, tablets, and even in certain food and drink products. The powdered form can be easily added to beverages, smoothies, soups, or other foods. What if I have an imbalance or deficiency? A deficiency or imbalance of collagen in the body can lead to signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging skin, joint pain due to worn cartilage, osteoporosis, and other health problems related to the tissues that collagen helps form. When was it first used for medicinal purposes? Collagen, in various forms, has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries, particularly in cultures with traditional practices of boiling bones to make broth. However, the use of collagen peptides specifically for medicinal purposes has gained popularity over the last few decades.

Helps

Which conditions and symptoms does it help? Based on clinical trials and studies, collagen peptides have been found to help with: Skin health: Enhancing hydration, elasticity, and reduction of wrinkles. Joint health: Reducing pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis. Bone health: Supporting bone density and structure, thus potentially reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Muscle mass: Assisting in maintaining muscle mass, particularly in elderly people. Heart health: Potentially reducing the risk of heart conditions by providing structure to arteries. Gut health: Some studies suggest it may help with gut-related issues, although more research is needed. Hair and nails: May promote stronger nails and healthier hair, though more research is needed in these areas. Weight management: Early studies suggest a potential role in supporting weight loss and management. Sleep quality: Some studies suggest glycine in collagen may improve sleep quality. Please note that while some studies show these benefits, more research is needed for a more definitive understanding of the potential health benefits of collagen peptides.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
