This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

The Cilantro + Chlorella Protocol is a popular integrative health pairing that combines the fresh herb cilantro (Coriandrum sativum) with the single-celled green algae chlorella. Chlorella is a dense whole-food algae grown in freshwater, prized for its tough cell wall that binds to heavy metals and toxins in the gut. Cilantro, a culinary staple used for centuries across Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, is thought to help mobilize metals stored in tissues, making the two a commonly recommended team.
Chlorella's fibrous cell wall acts like a sponge in the digestive tract, trapping heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium before they can be reabsorbed and helping carry them out of the body. Cilantro contains natural compounds that may help loosen metals stored deeper in body tissues, essentially releasing them into circulation where chlorella can then catch them. Together, the protocol is designed to both mobilize and bind toxins — a logical one-two approach often described in functional medicine as 'mobilize and mop up.'
Chlorella is most commonly taken as pressed tablets or powder and must be 'broken cell wall' or 'cracked cell wall' to ensure the nutrients and binding components are bioavailable — whole-cell chlorella is poorly absorbed. Cilantro is typically used fresh in food, as a juice, tincture, or liquid extract; some combined supplements include both ingredients in capsule form. For the protocol, many practitioners recommend taking chlorella alongside or shortly after cilantro to maximize the bind-and-remove effect.
Chlorella was first cultivated in Japan in the early 20th century as a potential food source and gained worldwide attention after World War II for its nutrient density. Its use as a detox agent gained traction in integrative medicine in the 1990s, in part through the work of German physician Dietrich Klinghardt, who popularized pairing it with cilantro as a gentler alternative to pharmaceutical chelation therapy. Cilantro itself has been used medicinally for over 3,000 years across Persian, Indian (Ayurvedic), and Chinese traditions for digestive complaints, inflammation, and purification.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
