Helps

What does Calcium Carbonate help with? Osteoporosis and low bone density: Calcium is the primary mineral in bone tissue, and getting enough of it is essential for maintaining bone density throughout life. Supplementing with calcium carbonate, especially alongside vitamin D, has been shown to slow bone loss in older adults and reduce the risk of fractures, particularly in postmenopausal women who are at highest risk. Calcium deficiency: Many people — especially older adults, vegans, and those with dairy intolerance — don't get enough calcium from food alone. Calcium carbonate is an affordable and effective way to close that gap, helping to prevent symptoms like muscle cramps, weak bones, and dental problems that come with long-term low intake. Heartburn and acid reflux: Calcium carbonate is one of the fastest-acting over-the-counter antacids available, neutralizing excess stomach acid within minutes. It's a go-to for occasional heartburn and indigestion, offering quick relief without the systemic effects of stronger acid-suppressing medications. PMS symptoms: Research has shown that calcium supplementation can meaningfully reduce common PMS symptoms — including mood swings, bloating, cramps, and food cravings — likely because calcium plays a role in regulating the hormonal shifts that drive these symptoms in the luteal phase of the cycle. High blood pressure: Adequate calcium intake is associated with modest reductions in blood pressure, especially in people who are calcium-deficient. Calcium helps blood vessels contract and relax properly, and supplementation has been shown to have a small but meaningful effect in certain populations, including pregnant women at risk for preeclampsia. Pregnancy-related calcium needs: Calcium needs increase significantly during pregnancy and breastfeeding to support fetal bone development and protect the mother's own bone stores. Calcium carbonate supplementation during pregnancy has also been studied as a way to reduce the risk of dangerously high blood pressure (preeclampsia), particularly in women with low baseline calcium intake. Hyperphosphatemia (in kidney disease): In people with chronic kidney disease, the kidneys can't remove excess phosphate from the blood. Calcium carbonate is commonly used as a phosphate binder — taken with meals, it binds to dietary phosphate in the gut and prevents it from being absorbed, helping to keep blood phosphate levels in a safe range. Muscle cramps and spasms: Calcium plays a direct role in muscle contraction, and low calcium levels can contribute to muscle cramps, spasms, and even numbness or tingling. Restoring adequate calcium levels through supplementation can help ease these symptoms, especially in people whose diet is consistently low in calcium.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
