They include vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B7 (biotin), vitamin B9 (folic acid), and vitamin B12 (cobalamin). B-complex vitamins are a group of eight water-soluble vitamins that are essential for proper functioning of the body. These vitamins are involved in many key metabolic processes such as energy production, red blood cell formation, and nerve function. How does it work? B-complex vitamins work together to support the body's metabolic processes. They play a role in converting food into energy, synthesizing neurotransmitters, and maintaining the health of the skin, eyes, and nervous system. What is the active ingredient or ingredients that make it work? The B-complex vitamins are composed of B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), and B12 (cobalamin). What forms does it come in? B-complex vitamins are available in many forms, including oral supplements, injection, and topical creams. When was it first used for medicinal purposes? B-complex vitamins were first used for medicinal purposes in the 1930s to treat nutrient deficiencies associated with conditions such as pellagra and beriberi. What if I have an imbalance or deficiency? Helps

What does B-complex vitamin help with? Low energy and fatigue: B vitamins are the spark plugs of your metabolism — without enough of them, your cells can't efficiently convert food into energy. People who are deficient, especially in B12, B6, or B2, often feel persistently tired even after rest. Supplementing restores this process and many people notice a real lift in stamina within a few weeks. Stress and anxiety: Your adrenal glands burn through B vitamins — especially B5 and B6 — when you're under stress to make cortisol and adrenaline. Keeping these topped up helps your stress response work more smoothly and recover faster. Several trials show that B-complex supplements meaningfully reduce perceived stress and anxiety in healthy adults. Depression and low mood: B6, folate, and B12 are directly involved in making serotonin and dopamine — the brain chemicals that regulate mood. Low folate in particular has been consistently linked to depression, and supplementing can improve antidepressant response. B-complex is not a replacement for treatment, but it's a meaningful support for mood. Brain fog and poor concentration: B vitamins — especially B12, folate, and B6 — help maintain healthy brain function and protect cognitive performance as we age. Even mild deficiencies in these can cloud thinking and memory. Research in older adults shows that B-complex supplementation can slow brain shrinkage and support sharper cognitive function over time. PMS and hormonal mood swings: B6 in particular is well-studied for easing PMS symptoms including mood swings, irritability, bloating, and breast tenderness. It likely works by supporting serotonin production and helping the liver clear excess estrogen. Multiple trials have found meaningful symptom relief with daily B6 supplementation throughout the menstrual cycle. Nerve pain and tingling (peripheral neuropathy): B12 is essential for the protective myelin sheath around your nerves, and a shortage leads to tingling, numbness, or pain — especially in hands and feet. B1 and B6 also play supporting roles in nerve health. Correcting a B12 deficiency often brings significant relief from nerve symptoms, particularly in older adults and diabetics. Hair loss and brittle nails: Biotin (B7) is closely linked to keratin production — the protein that makes up hair and nails. While severe biotin deficiency is uncommon, supplementing with B-complex (including biotin) is widely used to support thicker, stronger hair and nails, with some clinical evidence backing this, particularly in people with underlying deficiency. Anemia (B12 / folate deficiency): Without enough B12 or folate, your body can't make healthy red blood cells and produces large, misshapen ones that don't carry oxygen well — this is called megaloblastic anemia. Symptoms include deep fatigue, paleness, and shortness of breath. Supplementing the missing B vitamin reverses this type of anemia reliably. Pregnancy support and neural tube prevention: Folate (B9) is critical in the first weeks of pregnancy for preventing neural tube defects like spina bifida — which is why it's recommended for all women of childbearing age. B12 works alongside folate in this process. Getting enough of both before and early in pregnancy is one of the most evidence-backed nutritional interventions in medicine. High homocysteine (heart risk marker): Homocysteine is an amino acid that, when elevated, damages blood vessels and raises cardiovascular risk. B6, B12, and folate are the three nutrients that break it down — and supplementing these three has been consistently shown in trials to significantly lower homocysteine levels.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
