This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Apamarga (Achyranthes aspera) is a hardy, widespread herb found across India, Africa, and tropical Asia. It is one of the most referenced plants in classical Ayurvedic texts, mentioned in the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita as a potent herb for cleansing and purification. The entire plant — roots, leaves, seeds, and ash — is used medicinally, making it unusually versatile in traditional practice.
Apamarga is thought to work through several overlapping pathways: its potassium-rich saponins and alkaloids may promote urinary flow and help flush kidney sediment, while oleanolic acid and flavonoids are thought to reduce inflammation by calming the body's inflammatory signaling. The herb also shows mild antimicrobial activity against common pathogens in laboratory settings and contains ecdysterone, a plant steroid that may support metabolic balance in the body, though these effects have not been confirmed in rigorous human clinical trials.
Traditional Ayurvedic preparation uses the whole plant as a powder (churna), decoction (kwatha), or burned to ash (kshara) for alkaline medicinal applications such as kidney stone treatment and dental care. Modern supplements typically deliver standardized aqueous or ethanolic extracts in capsule or tablet form. Topical paste made from fresh leaves is traditionally applied for skin conditions and joint pain.
Apamarga has been documented in Ayurvedic medicine for over 2,500 years. Classical texts categorize it under 'Tikta Kashaya' (bitter-astringent) herbs and assign it to the Vata-Kapha balancing category. It was used in ritual purification ceremonies and as a household remedy across rural India for snakebite, toothache, skin conditions, and fever. Its Sanskrit name 'Apamarga' means 'the plant that removes obstruction,' reflecting its core therapeutic identity as a cleansing, unblocking herb.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
