This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa) is a deciduous shrub recognized by its clusters of brilliant red tubular flowers, found across India, Sri Lanka, and parts of Southeast Asia. It holds an important place in classical Ayurveda, where its dried flowers are listed in the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita as a key herb for digestive, gynecological, and wound-healing applications. Beyond its medicinal role, Dhataki flowers are famously used as a natural fermentation agent in the preparation of Asava and Arishta — traditional Ayurvedic fermented liquid medicines.
Dhataki's traditionally attributed therapeutic effects are thought to come largely from its high tannin content — particularly ellagitannins and gallic acid — which may exert astringent, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory actions in the gut and on mucosal tissues. These tannins are thought to help tighten and protect the intestinal lining, reduce excess secretion, and inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, which may partly explain its traditional use against diarrhea and gut inflammation. Its flavonoids and polyphenols may add antioxidant activity and could contribute to its traditionally observed ability to help manage bleeding, possibly by supporting vascular tone. These proposed mechanisms are based on the plant's known constituents; robust clinical evidence in humans is currently lacking.
Traditional Ayurvedic use centers on the dried flower powder taken as a decoction or mixed with honey or buttermilk. Dhataki is most commonly encountered as an ingredient in classical Ayurvedic formulations like Lodhrasava, Ushirasava, and Kutajarishta rather than as a standalone supplement. Modern presentations include capsules and standardized extracts, though standalone products remain less common than multi-herb Ayurvedic preparations.
Dhataki has been documented in Ayurvedic texts for over 2,000 years. The Charaka Samhita categorizes it under herbs that treat bleeding disorders (Raktasthapana) and digestive ailments. Its role as a fermentation catalyst in Asava-Arishta preparations is unique in traditional medicine — the yeast-like activity of the dried flowers initiates and sustains natural fermentation, a function that no other single Ayurvedic herb serves as effectively.
