Worn out and foggy all day
You wake up tired, even after a full night in bed. The day drags, and your body feels heavy. Your thinking feels slow, like your head is wrapped in cotton.
Long-term pain takes a lot out of you. Pain can break up your sleep, even when you do not fully wake. Broken sleep leaves you worn out and slow to find words.
Pain also keeps the body on alert, and that burns energy. Some pain drugs, low mood, and moving less can add to the fog. Low iron, thyroid trouble, or shaky blood sugar can too, and a blood test can check those.
When to see someone
Call emergency help if your speech slurs or one side of your body goes weak. See a doctor for fever, night sweats, weight loss you did not plan, or a bad new headache. Book a visit if you get lost on a route you know well, or feel hopeless most days.
Below is a list of remedies people use for long-term pain, each with an evidence grade. The grade shows how much research has been done, not what it will do for you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before you try any of them.
