Burning, tingling pain down my leg
You feel a hot, buzzing line running from your hip or buttock down your leg. It may burn, prickle, or feel like pins and needles. Some days it reaches the calf or the foot.
This kind of pain often starts in a nerve, not in the leg itself. A nerve root in your low back can get squeezed or pinched. Your brain then reads that signal as pain far down the leg.
Common reasons include a worn or bulging disc in the low back. A tight muscle deep in the hip can press on the nerve too. Long drives, deep chairs, and bending often set it off.
When to see someone
See a doctor right away if you lose feeling between your legs, or you cannot control your bladder or bowel. Get help fast for sudden weakness, a foot that drags, or leg pain that starts after a fall. Book a visit for fever, weight loss you cannot explain, or pain that wakes you most nights.
Below is a list of remedies people use for long-lasting pain, each with an evidence grade. The grade shows how strong the research is, not what any of them will do for you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before you add something new, and keep taking any medicine you are on.
